The city is full of lively bars, restaurants, and neighborhoods that celebrate diversity.

Oak Lawn Neighborhood

Oak Lawn is the vibrant gay neighborhood of Dallas. Just minutes away from Downtown Dallas and Uptown, it is known for its lively atmosphere and adventurous nightlife options alongside beautifully maintained homes. In 2014, Dallas’s Oak Lawn was voted the number one gayborhood by Out Traveler!

Two must-see gay bars in Dallas along Cedar Springs Road are J.R.’s Bar & Grill and iconic Sue Ellens, which is actually one of only 10 or so remaining lesbian bars in the United States. J.R.’s is a two-story bar with a modern atmosphere, overseeing the busy street, and it’s a highly sought-after spot for Dallas Pride Weekend. Sue Ellen’s is one of the latest lesbian bars in the country, and it’s right next door to J.R.’s!

Dallas Museum of Art

Founded in 1903, The Dallas Museum of Art is one of the best in the country. Spend an afternoon embarking on an interactive journey spanning 5000 years of history. Dallas Museum of Art Sculpture garden Go through periods and civilizations as you inspect artifacts like a 1,700-year-old Buddha, Greek Funerary relief from 300 BCE, and ancient American art in gold. Or, take in the beauty of the museum’s sculpture garden.

Klyde Warren Park There’s always an event happening out in Klyde Warren Park. Spend an afternoon meeting friends, or making new ones. The park is also a fantastic family-friendly attraction in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Klyde Warren Park event A tree-lined pedestrian promenade lines the park, which in itself is actually an enormous engineering and design accomplishment.

Klyde Warren Park is actually built on top of a recessed eight-lane freeway! Food trucks are typically stationed throughout the park. You’ll also find a restaurant, children’s park, botanical garden, dog park, and urban games area. They’ve also recently announced a plan to build the world’s tallest interactive fountain. Reunion Tower Reunion Tower, also known as The Ball, is one of the most fun landmark attractions in Dallas Fort Worth. The tower is 171 meters and comprises four narrow shafts, one cylindrical and three rectangular. It’s topped with an openwork geodesic dome that illuminates at night. You’ve likely seen photos of it before. Elevators are located in the three rectangular shafts, and there is a 68-second ride to the GeO-Deck. Here you can get an incredible view of Dallas through the shaft’s outer glass panel. Check out the fun rotating restaurant at the top, called the Cloud Nine Cafe.

Bishop Arts District

The Bishop Arts District is another popular Dallas gayborhood, where funky and chic come together. Stroll through the historical district where Dallas originally started! Offering a culinary experience with a variety of restaurants, unique shops, studios, and services. It is one of Dallas’ best-kept secrets. The Sixth Floor Museum and Plaza The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza contains exhibits of one of the most striking moments in American History, the assassination of President John F Kennedy on November 22, 1963.
