The gas station used in “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is open for business. Don’t risk traveling to this old gas station on an empty tank as it will have no gas for sale. The infamous gas station made famous by the 1974 horror classic is now known simply as The Gas Station but only sells film memorabilia and will eventually sell barbecue.
The historic gas station is working on building a smokehouse so barbecue should be ready to serve by the end of the month. The “We Slaughter Barbecue” sign out front is ready to summon customers.
The Gas Station had its grand opening Oct. 8 and will have guest appearances by actors Ed Neal and Caroline Williams around Halloween weekend, along with other festivities. Neal played “the hitchhiker” in the first film, and Williams portrayed “Stretch” in the sequel.
The Guardian reports Ohio businessman Roy Rose bought the station and teamed up with Ari Lehman, who played the first Jason Voorhees in 1980’s Friday the 13th. Guests can also rent one of four cabins behind the fuel stop, which is at 1073 Texas 304 in Bastrop, southeast of Austin.
Let’s just hope we hear no chainsaws or see any clowns around this place when pulling up with the sun going down.
