Everyone is talking about the recent Mayor Elect in New York City but Houston has reason to celebrate thanks to voters re-electing her for her final third term.

Country Comes to H-Town

There is a new Country Dance Hall in town called the Neon Boots Dancehall and Saloon to be exact. It is set to open at 11410 Hempstead Highway, the space that once was the Esquire Ballroom. The historic 1955 building on the outskirts of the city which has played host to Patsy Cline, George Jones and Willie Nelson. The building has undergone a major renovation after laying fallow since the Esquire shut its doors in 1995. Neon Boots will be open Thursdays through Sundays, and plans include cowboy karaoke and line dancing lessons.

Join us for the Fabulous Parade in Montrose this Saturday, June 23rd. Following the parade will be DJ Riley from Chicago at Southbeach Nightclub with a Foam Party planned for Sunday night. Friday night the club has an underwear party planned with DJ Jimmy Skinner. The Pride SuperStar Finale is picked Thursday before the big weekend begins. The winner of Ru Paul's Drag Race Season 3 will be performing at the F Bar off Tuam on Saturday and Sunday of Pride weekend. Houston Pride Coverage: The year that DADT was repealed. Houston Mayor Runoff - The 5th largest city in the U.S. picked an out lesbian mayor and that is great news for Texas!

U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison Website Displays Gay Terms in Hidden Text

It looks like Google and Yahoo have banned the website of the Texas Governor wannabe Kay Bailey Hutchinson.  Her website which is forkay.com was found to have hidden text that said things such as "Perry Gay".  This could have been for the traffic since they stuffed many words to make searches for Governor Perry turn up with the word gay in certain terms.  They seem to blame it on a technical issue but who knows whom to believe.  She is just another Sarah Palin if you ask me.  It is an insult to gays as one blogger noted.  We should make sure that we support a democrat or independent that has a chance of winning this governor race in Texas or we will have Faith-based Kay or Faith-based Rick running things.

Everyone’s favorite time of year is the fall time when the weather cools down and we can wear long sleeves and hit up the new Fashions for Back to School. We also have the State Fair, White Party, and Halloween. Houston and Dallas are both planning big Halloween events. Caven Enterprises will also be having their annual street party for all the Pirates and Angels parading down Cedar Springs.

Its that time again for the great New Years Events in Dallas, Houston, and Austin. Club Purgatory with DJ Alyson Calagna is the place of the Tea Dance for New Years Day from the Spoiled Boyz of Texas but the grand event will be at South Beach Club in Houston for New Years Eve from most of the emails we have received. 

Gay is Back! This is a big month already for gays. Just in the past month Spain and Canada's House of Commons voted to legalize marriage between same-sex partners. LOGO, the new gay network from MTV, Launches this week in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia and Atlanta but you can call your cable provider frequently to make your vote to get it to come to Austin, Dallas, and Houston. What will the religious right do now? I guess they will try to sign up more gay log cabin republicans. :)
