Oaklawn Halloween Block Party 2010

<-PLEASE SHARE! It is getting to be that time again, we are just 3 days away from the epic Oaklawn Halloween Block Party of 2010, which is happening on Saturday October 30st, 2010! This is always one of my favorite events in the Dallas Gaybourhood, and you can usually expect to find 1,000’s of people in attendance. For those of you who haven’t been before, think of it as being the size of Gay Pride, but all Halloween themed with some of the most epic costumes you will ever see. I have received many questions about the block party, so I thought I would take the time to answer them here.

First, this event is open to all ages. You must be 21 or older to drink or to get into the clubs, but the streets will be closed off and packed as they are with Gay Pride, so you can have plenty of fun out on the street! I started going to this event when I was 20, and every year it has been packed with people of all ages. Another question that I am getting is the cost. The street event is absolutely free! You can expect to pay cover at S4, but other than that, most of the other clubs will also be free to enter. I usually do a little of both, sometimes I will go into a club for a bit, but most of the time I will spend on the street, as you can drink out there as well!

If you like competing in Halloween Costume contests, for that you will have to wait until Sunday October 31st, 2010 which is Halloween night. There you will be able to find costume contests at Round Up Saloon, TMC, S4, Sue Ellen’s and JRs. For the Caven Clubs (TMC, S4, Sue Ellen’s and JR’s) each of those bars will be having a contest, and all of the winners will go over to S4 to compete in the finale where they will be giving away over $5,000 in prizes!

If you have been to this party before, please leave a comment below and let us know all about it! Look forward to seeing everyone this year, and can’t wait to post some pictures of the event!

Oaklawn Halloween Block Party

It is that time of year again when everyone is getting ready for the annual Oaklawn Halloween Party, time for planning out those Halloween Costumes and who you will be going with, as well as who is going to be the one to hold the pre-party! This year’s Halloween Party has been met with some confusion on the date. In years past the Halloween Party has always been held the Saturday that is the week before. That is not the case this year. The party this year will be on October 30, 2010!

If the block party just isn’t enough for you, Caven will be having their annual Costume Contests on Sunday October 31, 2010. They contests will start at 11pm at all 4 of their clubs, then the winners from each of those will all go over to Station 4 at midnight to compete for cash and prizes that are valued at over $5,000!

It will be interesting to see all of the costumes that we will be seeing out this year, I am sure there will be lots of Mad Hatters, Avatars, and of course Lady Gaga’s! With over 1 million Lady Gaga costumes sold this year so far, there are going to be more than a few of those in the crowd! With just over 2 weeks left, it is time to start getting all of that in order. What are you going to be this year for halloween?

Poker Returns to Round Up

Round Up Saloon has brought back their very popular Texas Hold’em Poker Night, and tonight is one of the nights you can enter in to qualify for their tournament. You can play for free, with registration starting at 8pm and the tournament starting at 9. There are five more weeks of qualifying (including tonight) with the final tournament being held on November 17, 2010. If you haven’t checked this out before, it is not only a lot of fun, but a great way to meet some new people and expand your social circle.

If poker isn’t your think, you can also check out what is going on over at JR’s and Sue Ellen’s, with both of them having $3 you call its. Brick also is having their first All Male Review with DJ Mickey spinning on the Brick Side and Chalupa hosting karaoke on the Joe’s side of the bar.
